TOOTH DISCOLORATION

Let me take you back to three weeks ago when I wasn’t glad to show off my teeth, there was a visible discoloration in the form of spots and dark colored areas on my front teeth and you know the saying that goes “A warm smile is the universal language of kindness”. I couldn’t smile in public even to appreciate kind gestures from people. I started searching for solutions, from lemon and salt to soda and a whole lot more. After all those, I looked at the mirror and felt even worse.

After a long while of deliberation and research, I confided in a friend about my teeth, she advised I go see a dentist, that sounded odd because I used to think dentists are for tooth diseases like tooth decay, halitosis and others.  So I took a big step and made my first dental appointment, it felt like a big deal (Think: Getting your first Paid Job) during my discussion with the dentist, I was made to understand that food, drinks, tobacco, poor dental hygiene, medications such as some antibiotics and tetracycline, and even some dental materials can cause discoloration of the teeth. At first I was nervous but the staffs made me feel at ease, took care of me and laid out a treatment plan customized for me, they took into consideration my workhours and current lifestyle – quite thoughtful.

Some of the instructions/advice I got from the dentist are:

  1. You can improve your dental hygiene by brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash daily
  2. Avoid food and beverages that cause stains in the teeth (coffee, colas, potatoes and wines)
  3. Avoid over-the-counter whitening agents

However, if your situation is anywhere close to mine, the steps above won’t make much difference as they are majorly preventive measures, you really should see a dentist – scratch that… I think you should See a dentist at SS Dental Clinic. They are located in Lekki Phase 1, one of the few good and well equipped dental clinics in Lekki and Ikoyi areas.

Well, not to bore you with all that detail, in a nutshell I am so pleased to have found SS Dental Clinic, they leave no doubt that the patient’s health is their primary goal. Today I smile even when I am staring at myself in the mirror and open my teeth wide at every hello I get out there Lol. Thanks to Dr Sadare and all the staffs at SS Dental Clinic. I feel more beautiful and confident.

My advice… do not allow tooth discoloration or any dental problem take away your smile and happiness, visit a dentist today or take advantage of our Free consultation every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month between 10am and 1pm.
